about

!‘No Impersonator’ is the fastest release, from conception to completion, for singer- songwriter Maxon. Having recently met Kinesiologist Nanette Abbott, the pair had spoken about brain integration and that the Right Brainers (the creatives) are often
incredibly sensitive to feelings, sound and social settings. The challenge for Right Brainers is that without Left Brain integration, structure and logical social requirements can
be excruciatingly difficult. The conversation relieved many insecurities and sparked the concept for the new single, ‘No Impersonator’.
!The heartbreaking, soaring ballad doubles as a comforting lullaby and spotlights the life of the many pseudo-extroverts of the creative industries. Being a naturally introverted person can make networking and performing seriously demanding and confronting work, but getting somewhere in the music industry requires one to have the ‘extrovert’ cap on every night. ‘No Impersonator’ expresses helplessness as well as bravery, but highlights truth. Truth in knowing who you are, and truth in doing things that scare and challenge you. Pseudo-extroversion may be a necessity for some, but identifying and knowing about this is just as important.
Co-written with Nayomi Pattuwage (Like Bear), Maxon has produced her most honest piece in ‘No Impersonator’, revealing personal challenges, but also the self-confidence in understanding who she is as an artist and as a person. In writing the single, Maxon has been able to reflect and set the next challenge for personal growth, whilst releasing the song in the hopes that others can relate and use it as a step-up for controlling self- confidence and such anxieties. Recorded with Yury Kogan (Black Pearl Studios), mixed by Andy Shanahan (Fuse Studios), and Mastered with Andrew Edgson (Studios 301) ‘No Impersonator’ is a big message, by a big voice, with a big heart.

lyrics

tell me how it goes
all i want to know
so i can skip the show
and head home

made it up before
said pour me one more
but i'm feeling insecure
and alone

now i'm beginning to notice
that there's one too many of us

take my hand and get me through this
i'm no impersonator
but it feels so much better
how'm i ever gonna do this
i'm no impersonator
but it feels so much better
if we make believe it's true my dear

come a little nearer
and repeat that my dear
coz i can hardly hear
my own head

but inside my mind
just behind my eyes
i feel it all the time
these days

where i'm beginning to wonder
why the hell i'm slipping under

take my hand and get me through this
i'm no impersonator
but it feels so much better
how'm i ever gonna do this
i'm no impersonator
but it feels so much better
if we make believe it's true my dear
